Soren

Interview guide

An overview of Soren's hiring philosophy and interview process.

Hiring philosophy

Hiring mission. We're building a dense team, with few people and a lot of responsibility: genuine profiles from varied backgrounds, set on rebuilding operational procurement for the field.

Hiring values. Every candidate goes through a consistent process, with the same opportunity to show their strengths. We are not credential-driven: we don't hire on degrees or logos on a résumé. We want to understand your actual background and what you can bring to the team.

What we look for. People who are already experts in their field, or not yet specialised but with high potential, meaning they've shown they can ramp up fast on a new domain and produce results. We care about collaboration, clear communication, openness to feedback, and alignment with our mission and values.

Interview process

The team comes from very different backgrounds, but we all share one thing: the drive to build the tool that finally gives time back to the field. Interviews are a chance for us to get to know you, and for you to understand how we work. Here's what to expect. The exact flow may vary by role, but we aim for a consistent process so every candidate has the same chance to show their strengths.

  1. Application and pre-screening. You apply, then answer a few questions by voice message, from your phone, whenever suits you. The team listens to every answer and gets back to you within a week.

  2. First conversation. A 30-minute call with Louis, our CEO. We start from your voice answers to talk about your background, your motivations and the role. Ask us anything, we answer candidly.

  3. Case study and final interview. It's one and the same step. We share a document with a case drawn from a real topic at Soren. You prepare it on your side, then present it to the team at our office in Paris before we discuss it together.

  4. Decision. You'll hear from us within days of the final interview. We always take references before making an offer.

For technical interviews, we look for well-designed solutions, high-quality code, solid performance and real test coverage. Above all, give us insight into how you think: walk us through how you approach and solve problems.

How to prepare

Before your interviews, we recommend exploring our universe (what we build, why, and who with) and the careers page for our principles and how we work. Explore the product, talk to people working in the field if you know some, and come with concrete examples of things you've built.

And bring your questions. The best interviews are candid conversations, not interrogations.
