Interview guide

An overview of Soren's hiring philosophy and interview process.

Hiring philosophy

Hiring mission. We're building a dense team — few people, a lot of responsibility — made of genuine profiles from varied backgrounds, set on rebuilding operational procurement for the field.

Hiring values. Every candidate goes through a consistent process, with the same opportunity to show their strengths. We are not credential-driven — we don't hire on degrees or logos on a résumé. We want to understand your actual background and what you can bring to the team.

What we look for. People who are already experts in their field, or not yet specialised but with high potential — meaning they've shown they can ramp up fast on a new domain and produce results. We care about collaboration, clear communication, openness to feedback, and alignment with our mission and values.

Interview process

The team comes from very different backgrounds, but we all share one thing: the drive to build the tool that finally gives time back to the field. Interviews are a chance for us to get to know you — and for you to understand how we work. Here's what to expect. The exact flow may vary by role, but we aim for a consistent process so every candidate has the same chance to show their strengths.

  1. Application. Apply to the roles that interest you. The team reads every application and gets back to you within a week.

  2. Introductory call. If there's a potential fit, we schedule a conversation with the hiring manager or a member of the team. Be ready to talk about your background, your motivations and what you're looking for — and ask us anything, we answer candidly.

  3. Skills-based assessment. Within a week, we let you know if you've progressed and share the format: technical exercises, a case study or a practical simulation depending on the team — always designed to mirror the real problems you'd work on at Soren. We give you everything you need to prepare.

  4. Final interviews. A few hours of conversations with 3 to 5 people from the team, remotely or at our office in Paris. Interviews focus on your area of expertise and are designed to stretch you beyond your comfort zone — that's intentional. They end with a conversation about our values and how we work.

  5. Decision. You'll hear from us within days of your final interviews. We always take references before making an offer.

For technical interviews, we look for well-designed solutions, high-quality code, solid performance and real test coverage. Above all, give us insight into how you think: walk us through how you approach and solve problems.

How to prepare

Before your interviews, we recommend exploring our universe — what we build, why, and who with — and the careers page for our principles and how we work. Explore the product, talk to people working in the field if you know some, and come with concrete examples of things you've built.

And bring your questions. The best interviews are candid conversations, not interrogations.
